“The story of the Buddy Society
is one of commitment and faith;
it is a story
of generosity, hope
and the willingness to share.”
The Buddy Society was conceived and proposed by the late John Zerbe because of his concern for the well being of his neighbors and friends. His vision was to establish a vehicle for long-term, regular giving to the
Good Samaritan Fund - above and beyond event based or general contributions.
Individuals, organizations and corporations are invited to join the Buddy Society. Membership is granted upon receipt of a signed Commitment Form indicating the intent to contribute a minimum of five thousand dollars over a period of five years to the Good Samaritan Fund.
This is a non-binding commitment and is not a legal contract. Should the donor choose to make the pledge obligatory, this can be noted. Circumstances that prevent the fulfillment of the intent will warrant no further obligation.
Recognition is conducted on an annual basis. New members are presented a Buddy Society pin.
All participants in good standing will be acknowledged in Londonderry Village's Moving Forward magazine
as a way to thank members and encourage others to join the effort.
The Goal of the Buddy Society is to recruit and sustain over 100 active members.
Special thanks to the 33 Charter Members who were the first to make their commitment
to the ongoing care of their friends and neighbors.
